Located approximately 25 km north of Hữu Lũng District Center and around 150 km from Hanoi, Huu Lien is accessible via National Highway 1A and Provincial Road 243. The commune covers an area of over 6,000 hectares and is home to more than 3,000 residents, including ethnic groups such as Kinh, Tày, Nùng, Dao, and Mông.

How to Get to Huu Lien

Currently, you can reach Huu Lien using three main types of transportation:

  • Motorbike
  • Private car
  • Passenger bus

1. Traveling to Huu Lien by Motorbike

If you’re riding from Hanoi, you have two main routes to choose from:

Route 1 (Recommended – Faster & More Open Road)

Cross Vĩnh Tuy Bridge or Thanh Trì Bridge, then take Phù Đổng Bridge.

Follow National Highway 1B (Hanoi – Bắc Ninh) toward Bắc Giang City.

Route 2 (Alternative – Traditional Route)

Cross Long Biên Bridge or Chương Dương Bridge into Long Biên District.

Continue through Đuống Bridge and take the old National Highway 1A to Bắc Ninh, then Bắc Giang.

No matter which route you take, once you reach Bắc Giang City, follow National Highway 1A past Vôi, Kép, and Hữu Lũng Town.

About 5 km after Hữu Lũng Town (Mẹt), you’ll see a sign directing you toward Yên Sơn, Yên Vượng, and Huu Lien. Turn left, then ride another 25 km to reach Huu Lien Tourism Village. Parking is available near the village entrance, and it’s just a 100-meter walk to the main tourism area.

2. Traveling to Huu Lien by Private Car

If you’re driving from Hanoi, you have two options:

Option 1 – Old National Highway 1A (Avoids tolls at Ninh Hiệp but is narrow and congested)
Option 2 – National Highway 1B & Expressway (Recommended)

Take Phù Đổng Bridge and the Bắc Giang – Bắc Ninh expressway.

Continue on the Bắc Giang – Lạng Sơn – Chi Lăng Expressway (Toll fee: ~55,000 VND/vehicle/way). This road is wide, smooth, and fast.

From Bắc Giang City, drive another 35 km to Hồ Sơn Interchange (exit for Mẹt, Phố Vị, and Bắc Lệ).

At the Hồ Sơn exit, continue toward Mẹt Town Center. When you reach a traffic light at National Highway 1A, turn left and drive another 5 km to Yên Vượng Intersection.

Turn left again and drive another 25 km to Huu Lien.

Tip: This Yên Vượng intersection is slightly hidden, so you may need to ask locals for directions or use Google Maps to ensure accuracy.

Unfortunately, most long-distance buses passing through Hữu Lũng do not go directly to Huu Lien.

Most Lạng Sơn-bound buses will only stop at Yên Vượng or Yên Sơn, which are about 25 km from Huu Lien. From there, you will need to:

Take a connecting bus to Bắc Sơn, or

  • Take a motorbike taxi (~4-5$ per ride).

The only direct bus from Hanoi to Huu Lien:

Hoàng Phương Bus (Bắc Sơn – Yên Nghĩa Bus Station)

  • Departure from Hà Nội (Yên Nghĩa) → Huu Lien: 12:30 PM
  • Return from Huu Lien → Hà Nội: 9:00 AM daily

Other Bắc Sơn buses traveling to Quế Võ (Bắc Ninh) also pass through Huu Lien at 9:00 AM & 12:00 PM, and return at 1:00 PM & 2:00 PM.
