When people talk about tourism in Huu Lung, they are usually referring to Huu Lien Commune, located in Lang Son Province today. This area was formed after the administrative merger of the former Huu Lien and Yen Thinh communes.
In recent years, Huu Lien – Huu Lung has become one of the fastest-rising destinations on the tourism map of Northeast Vietnam. It is no coincidence that this place is attracting an increasing number of both domestic and international travelers seeking authentic nature-based experiences.
Where is Huu Lien, Lang Son located?
Huu Lien is a mountainous commune in Huu Lung District, Lang Son Province, located about 60 km from Lang Son City and approximately 120 km from Hanoi.
Situated on the southern edge of Lang Son Province and bordering Bac Giang and Thai Nguyen provinces, Huu Lien is relatively easy to access. This makes it an ideal destination for 2–3 day weekend trips from Hanoi.
One of the most remarkable features of Huu Lien is that it lies within the Huu Lien Nature Reserve, a protected area known for its limestone mountain ecosystems, which are typical of Northeast Vietnam.

How to get to Huu Lien, Lang Son
Currently, travelers can reach Huu Lien by three main types of transportation: motorcycle, private car, or coach (bus).
Traveling to Huu Lien by motorcycle
If you travel by motorcycle from Hanoi, you can choose one of the following routes:
Route 1 (recommended):
Cross Vinh Tuy or Thanh Tri Bridge → Phu Dong Bridge → National Highway 1B (Hanoi – Bac Ninh) → Bac Giang City.
👉 This route is wider, less congested, and faster.
Route 2:
Cross Long Bien or Chuong Duong Bridge → Long Bien District → Duong Bridge → old National Highway 1A → Bac Giang City.
From Bac Giang City, regardless of which route you choose, continue along old National Highway 1A, passing through Voi Town, Kep, and then reaching Huu Lung Town (also known locally as “Met”).
About 5 km after Huu Lung Town, you will see road signs pointing toward Yen Son – Yen Vuong – Huu Lien. Turn left and continue for another 25 km to reach Huu Lien Community Tourism Village. There is a spacious parking area here; from the parking lot, walk or ride another 100 meters to reach the center of Huu Lien.

Traveling to Huu Lien by private car
If you drive from Hanoi, you may still take the old National Highway 1A to avoid the Ninh Hiep toll station, but this road is narrow, crowded, and relatively slow.
A better option is to drive via National Highway 1B, crossing Phu Dong Bridge and heading toward Bac Ninh and Bac Giang.
For cars, the most convenient route is the Bac Giang – Lang Son – Chi Lang Expressway.
Toll fee: approximately $2 per car per trip
This expressway is wide, smooth, and very comfortable for driving.
From Bac Giang City, drive about 35 km to reach the Ho Son interchange (exit for Met, Pho Vi, and Bac Le). Take this exit and head toward the center of Met Town. At the traffic light intersection with old National Highway 1A, turn left and continue for about 5 km to reach Yen Vuong Junction. Turn left again and drive another 25 km to arrive in Huu Lien.
This junction can be a bit hard to spot, so it’s recommended to ask local residents or use Google Maps to navigate accurately to Huu Lien Community Tourism Village.
Traveling to Huu Lien by coach (bus)
One drawback is that although many long-distance buses pass through Huu Lung District (almost all buses traveling to Lang Son), only one or two routes actually go directly to Huu Lien.
Most buses traveling to Lang Son from other provinces only stop at Yen Vuong or Yen Son Junction, which is still over 25 km away from Huu Lien. From there, travelers must:
Wait for a local bus heading to Bac Son, or
Take a motorbike taxi or regular taxi to Huu Lien.

Taxi: approximately 11 – 18$ per car
Motorbike taxi: approximately 5 – 6$ per ride
The only direct bus from Hanoi to Huu Lien is operated by Hoang Phuong Bus, running on the Bac Son – Yen Nghia Bus Station route.
- Departure from Yen Nghia Bus Station (Hanoi): 12:30 PM
- Return from Huu Lien to Hanoi: 9:00 AM daily
In addition, some Bac Son bus routes traveling to Que Vo (Bac Ninh) at 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM pass through Huu Lien. Return trips from Bac Ninh to Huu Lien operate at 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
Recently, several shuttle services now pick up guests in central Hanoi and drop them directly at homestays in Huu Lien or Yen Thinh.

Local transportation in Huu Lien
Tourist attractions in Huu Lien are located relatively close to one another (usually within 5 km), so motorbikes are the most convenient way to get around.
Most homestays offer motorbike rentals by the hour, half-day, or full day. A nice bonus is that fuel is usually included in the rental price.

Riding from Dong Lam parking area into Dong Lam Valley: 3 – 4$ per bike (flexible timing, limited to that area)
Half-day rental (afternoon to evening): 4 – 5$ per bike
